12 tags of 2013 - march

Encouraged by my latest win with Tim's "12 tags of 2013" and of course inspired by the awesome march tag he did, I decided to try a first take on the march tag although I hardly have any of the stuff Tim used on his...but improvising is one of the things I love (and luckily I own sufficient Tim Holtz stuff) and therefore I had great fun making this tag:

I immediately fell in love with Tim's altered flowers on their wire stems! I combined some die cut felt flowers with punched from metal foil and Kraft Core flowers. The grass was cut from a sheet from the Tim Holtz "Lost and Found" stash and even the rabbit card from the "Crowded Attic" stash finally found a home :)

The main background image is a colour copy from the 1909 published "Sang und Klang fürs Kinderherz" song book (whose editor was no other than Prof. Engelbert Humperdinck). "Häschen in der Grube" is a really well known and famous nursery rhyme and I was glad to find such a lovely illustration to go with it in the book.

I wanted some Easter eggs to go with the grass and the flowers but the only egg-shaped stamps I have are three hotel labels from the Tim Holtz "Travel Labels" stamp sheet. I stamped them on soft blue, pink and green paper to match the main colour scheme of the tag.

I die cut an opening into the rabbit card and coloured a piece of crumpled aluminium foil with Ranger alcohol inks which I glued to the back of the card afterwards. The Tim Holtz flourish was die cut from the same sheet of the "Lost and Found" stash as the grass as the backside was just a perfect match!!


















For a finish I added idea-ology chit chat stickers and reinforcers.

The ribbon was blended with Distress ink "walnut stain" as it was too bright. Edges of flowers and the tag were blended with "walnut stain" too. Done!



I also used Stickles with the flowers and acrylic paints.

For blending the background I used Distress inks "peeled paint", "rusty hinge", "mustard seed" and "broken china".

Additional Distress inks used: "barn door", "shabby shutters", "walnut stain".
