After a short holiday I am back at my crafting desk, trying to get back into the creative flow.
I hope you had a wonderful X-mas and enjoyed lovely holidays - and I wish you all the best of 2014! "Prosit, Neujahr!" as we say over here (= "Cheers, New Year!").
As you may well remember, the 1st of each month is a double-feature day over at my place, as I present two new challenges: the one at Our Creative Corner (scroll down to learn more about this one) and the other at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges .
Over there we want you to use your brand new stash to create a steampunk project for the January challenge. I finally got the awesome Sizzix "word play" alphabet die from Tim Holtz and used it for my first tag of the new year :)
I never tire of the transformation of blank card into a timeworn and rusted looking object:
I experimented with a rusting set from Triangle Crafts, which works with a brushed on iron coat on which you apply a rusting solution to get real rust. As this wasn't "rusty" enough for me, I also used acrylic paints to add some more.
It was hardly possible to get good images of the tag as it is grey in grey over here all day long and with artificial lighting the colours always look a bit different...sorry for that.
I hope you like the tag anyway and I look forward to seeing your new stash (and the steampunk projects you create with them) over at SanDee&amelie's soon!!
Hugs and happy crafting,
Claudia x

Wow it's beautiful. I LOVE this die and use it all the time. The rusting is so much fun! You should try rusting a favorite liquor bottle. It's really pretty. Mine is on my mantle. Great way to start the new year off.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Claudia! Your rusted sign is so right up my street - I love it! It's always difficult using other rusty products because they never seem to be quite as good as the effects we can achieve with paint do they? Love that you've combined the two!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend who I can turn to and for just being you.
Love & Hugs,
