Mixed Media Entomology - a DecoArt Mixed Media Project and Tutorial

Hi, servus and thanks so much for stopping by!

Today's post is an invitation to check out my latest project and tutorial for the DecoArt Mixed Media Blog.

My love for insects should be a well known fact by now - and this project is once more inspired by "bug beauty" ;)

I've found a cool and easy way to create my own beetle by using specific supplies that are usually meant to enhance human beauty...if you want to find out what it was that I've used, simply click HERE to get taken to the blog post with the tutorial and a list of all the paints, products and cheap little "specialities" it needed to get my gorgeous bug done.

Of course there had to be some yummy texture and crackle too! The tuto also covers how these were done of course.

I hope you like my project and the tutorial! Get inspired to create your own glamorous and fascinating specimen! It is really easy and quickly done - and great fun too! See you over at the DecoArt Mixed Media Blog!

Hugs and happy crafting!

Fill it with Circular Shapes - Altered Tin for StencilGirl Products

Hi, servus and thanks for stopping by!

Time to share my latest project and video tutorial for StencilGirl Products! This month the theme for the creative team was "Frame it or fill it with circular shapes" and I have not only "filled" a substrate with circular shapes but I also used a circular shaped substrate - a ginger bread tin.

Altering boxes and tins is one of my favourite things to do as I find it very rewarding.

I have done a full video tutorial this time in which I show various ways of creating circular shapes like stencilling on tea or coffee pads for example. The full list of StencilGirl stencils and DecoArt Americana paints and products used is over at the StencilGirl Talk blog. Simply click HERE to get the blog post where you will also find the video and more images of the finished project.

I hope to see you over there soon!

Hugs and happy crafting!

In These Very Woods - a Calico Craft Parts Project

Servus, hi and thanks for stopping by today!
I hope you're having a good start into the new week!

It's time for another inspirational project over at the Calico Craft Parts Blog and this time I've created a winter themed project - a door hanger box. The Door Hanger Box Kit is one of Calico Craft Parts' latest releases and it can be used for so much more than to hang it on a door - if you hang it on a hook in your craft room it can hold your ATC and smaller tag blanks for example or crafting tools...or other crafts stuff you like to have at close reach. And as it only hangs you can take it with you wherever you need it with just one grab.

And I found that particular sizes (mostly the medium sizes) of all the other wood shapes from their range are a perfect fit to decorate the door hanger box with! Yay!

This is a close up of the front. The sides have been decorated with beautiful newer and older wood shapes as well - there is a full list of the Calico Craft Parts and DecoArt products used in the blog post. Simply click HERE to get there and check out the how-to.

Hope to see you over at the Calico Craft Parts Blog soon!

Hugs and happy crafting!

The Emperor - for SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges

Hi, servus and welcome to the launch of our February challenge over at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges!

The team and I have once more created a bundle of inspirational projects to push your creativity and this is my make for this month's challenge theme, which is - as always -

Anything Goes - Steampunk/Industrial

(for more info and to check the makes of my teamies and the few challenge rules, simply click on the link at the bottom of this post that will take you to our challenge blog).

I call this little arch shaped mixed media panel "The Emperor" - and instead of sharing the how-to with you today, I would like to ask you to wait two more days until my next Calico Craft Parts post (that will go live on the third and there will be a link here on my blog that will take you there if you don't want to go to their blog directly), where I will introduce to you "The Empress" - his better half AND a detailed tutorial as always.

For now I would like to share some close ups of "The Emperor":

As you may already have guessed correctly I have used DecoArt paints and products and Calico Craft Parts for this project.

He looks a bit sad, doesn't he? I am sure he is missing his wife, the Empress. Or maybe his crown is a heavy burden to wear...who knows.

HERE's the promised link to our challenge blog - I hope to see you play along with us soon!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs and happy crafting!
