What better is there to do on a cold, dark and rainy day like today than to craft away and join in Tim's 12 tags of 2015!
I loved his idea for the October tag right away and it took me some days to figure out how I could adapt it for the Halloween Tim dies I have in my stash - and here it is:
I used my favourite "Rickety House", "Branch Tree" and "Graveyard" dies to create this little scene and followed Tim's instructions on tinting the white cardboard for the single die cut parts closely. I have been using these dies quite a lot recently and in quite different ways (to create my own masks and stencils with them over HERE, to use them for my drawings over HERE and to use them with acrylic paints for layering and creating texture over HERE) as I like to get most out of my favourite craft supplies ;)
Honestly I really enjoyed doing his "wrinkle-free-distress" technique again. My distress inks had sat in their storage box unused for way too long!!!
Even the lit area behind the windows was done this way and then glued behind the die cut house shape before I mounted it to the prepared tag with sticky foam pads.
To achieve as much dimension as possible I decided not only to fix my house and tree to the tag with several stacks of sticky foam pads but I also bent the graveyard so it would create a kind of "stage front".
For my stamped quote I used the rest of my previously wrinkle-free-distressed yellow background to repeat the colour of the windows which helps unify the elements used in a compositon.
I did the same with the lace ribbon at the bottom and the idea-ology linen ribbon I painted with Distress paint to make it match.
To make my scene a bit more lively I added a sequin spider and some moss to my tag.
When I was done with my tag my desk looked like it had been hit by a bomb - an unmistakable sign that I had had a wonderful creative messy time at my craft desk!
I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by and hugs and happy crafting! xxx

ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit to my blog. I actually like YOUR tag better than Tim's. It looks much better because it has a true Halloween spirit to it. And you followed the technique, but created a much better tag, at least in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the nice comment you left and will take your advice about the paint and paper for the Gelli. It was quite thoughtful of you.
What a great Halloween tag! Love the dimension and gravestones! The moss really adds to the foreground. Well done!
