Lebe deinen Traum / Live your dreams

This is one of my first mixed-media-works on canvas. The set of three pieces was meant as birthday present for my best friend, who just had finished painting her new eat-in kitchen. Therefor it was important, that the colours matched the wall paint. I worked with acrylic colours, structure paste, bark, scrappaper, 3D-stickers, metallic-paint, fineliner, stamps and decoupage technique. Usually my pictures don't get that "opulent", but from a certain moment on the picture led the way and I simply followed. ;)

A closer look:

"die amelie"

Haha!

******

LOL! I just discovered, that my pseudonym which I have been using since my first day in the internet for about seven to eight years by now, "the amelie", which writes "die amelie" in German, could be read by English-speaking natives as "die amelie"= the amelie, who can emboss, cut and stamp. LOL.

If this isn't a sign, I do not know.... :D

Pioniere in Raum und Zeit / Pioneers in Space and Time

Inspired by a scrap-challenge I stumbled across in the internet, I created this tag. It was to contain only black and white colour.

As I discovered shortly afterwards at browsing the net, the tag also matches perfectly the challenges at  Card Crafter's Circle , crafts 4 eternity und CropStop!

Nice detail aside: the pioneer shown in the embellishment really is an ancestor of mine. Unluckily I do not know of which line in the family. Estimated time of photograph: about 1880.

Materials used: B&W-copy of a Tim-Holtz-Sheet, a Tim-Holtz-fragment, stamps from a set from flonzcraft and two stamp alphabets, white embossingpowder, a small piece of lace paper, a brad, black and white ribbon, black ink pad, glue and heat tool.

Kurzer Ausflug zum Papiertheater / A short visit at the toy theater

To show my other paper-love, here 's a short glimpse on my toy-theater I had the luck to get. It shows my first try of a cave-scenery for a stage setting for "Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves". (If this production will ever reach performance is unsure at the moment ;)

It is a toy theater printed by the Schreiber Company, Munich. Not an antique original, but one of the limited reprints from the 90's. The stage consists of heavy cardstock only and can be folded to fit into a rather flat cardbord box.

Actors and stage designs are also made of cardstock, cut out and mounted on small wooden blocks and moved on the stage by using wire or wooden sticks. For lighting the stage I use a LED-bar. In former times they user small candles, which not seldomly led to theater-fires ;)

Wald-Liebe / Forest-Love

*****

As a huge fan of forests and meadows I just had to do a 3-piece-set of forest-tags. (One of my first projects, to test the new XL-tag-punch, the new stamps from the "Pictorial Webster's Stamp Set" and embossing on small objects for embellishments).

First difficulty: as these stamps are mounted on extremely soft foam, it very easily happens, that you stamp the edges of the stamp too. I solved this problem by positioning the inked stamps carefully and without any pressure on the paper and then giving pressure with an acrylic bloc, trying to keep it strictly parallel to the surface. Also the removing of the stamp requires some attention to avoid printing the edges by tipping it. But with some care and practice it works quite well and the wonderful motives are worth the cost.

To get the tiny, red embossed "forest-love-hearts", I stamped with gold first and then dipped them right into the embossing-powder-pot using tweezers. For the smaller forest-treasures and -inhabitants I punched three small circles, inked the edges with the foam-applicator-tool and stamped on them. To get the layered look, I suggest to use small foam-sticky-pads.
