Happy Birthday, Mynnette - blog hop!

Wooo Hooo, Mynnette!!!

Happy Birthday to you!!!

We thought your birthday would be a wonderful opportunity for a blog hop with birthday cards for you and, of course, some awesome BLOG CANDY for one lucky winner participating in this lovely event!

For your birthday surprise each of the DTeamies was to choose a favourite technique shown with your challenge blog to create a birthday card with and I decided to try the beautiful Bargello technique (Stepxstep to be found here).

My card says "Alles Gute!" which is German and means "All the best!". So "All the best to you, Mynnette! May your new year be filled with joy and happiness!"

If you, dear readers and followers, want to try this technique too: it is perfect to use up left over patterned paper scraps ;) and really looks awesome. I also added some texture using a stencil and DI.

I really enjoyed doing this technique (which works best with small patterned papers) and will definitely use it again. You should give it a try too!

The flower was cut from the same papers, using the Tim Holtz "tattered florals" die.

Tiny Flower Gift Box for a Man

Welcome, dear visitors, friends and followers,

to my third "Technique Time Tuesday" as a proud member of their DT! This time Mynnette shows you how to fold

 "Dahlia Flowers"

and - you know me - I am not very much of a flower girl, but I really like the design of this one as it is very Origami like and versatile.

I had prepared my flower for quite a long time without knowing exactly with which project to use it, but I chose a very decent (and Steampunk-able - just in case *lol) paper for the flower.

By accident I stumbled upon a small brown cardboard box that was ideal for the job!!! My flower looks like I made it to fit exactly - hah, lucky me! :)

I glued the flower to a piece of card, which I cut exactly to size, distressed at the edges and blended with DIs. The top of the box was first covered on the sides with my favourite washi tape I also used with this project.

To add a rusted look I gave the washi taped sides a treatment with alcohol inks. I really love that look and having that done I decided this to be the main eyecatcher alongside with the flower itself!

So I had to keep the sides of the container rather simple. I used one of the fab Tim Holtz Grunge stamps to add some texture, blended the edges of the box with DI "walnut stain" - voila!

You also have to hop over to Mynnette's blog to see the fabulous flower projects my DT mates made! They have a lot of awesome inspiration on the go in store for you!

Maybe you have also heard the awesome news: Technique Time Tuesday offers a prize to give away each month to our challenge winner! So check it out and let me see your Dahlia flower projects soon!

Thank you very much for stopping by (and for so constantly leaving comments with me - even though I have been a rather bad comments writer for the last weeks - due to health issues. Your comments really mean a lot to me and I will try to do better as soon as I am back to normal! I promise!)

I enter this project with FSC's "anything goes" challenge.

"Texture"

is the theme for another fortnight's challenge with us at FunwithATCs and I have to admit: I LOVE texture and everything haptic.

For my ATC I glued some rough heart shaped cord to a piece of card and covered the whole surface with sandwich paper creating a lot of wrinkles. Afterwards I treated the dried paper with alcohol inks, leaving spaces of white around the heart shape. I then rubbed some inka gold onto the wrinkles and the cord heart shape, thus showing the texture of the cord even more.

The wings were die cut from Kraft Core using the Sizzix "layered wings" die, dry embossed and sanded a little before giving them some touches of rub ons and inka gold too. They were fixed to the ATC using tiny brads.

For a finish I added the die cut and rubbed on letters. Done! Hope you like it and let your imagination fly so I can see your textural creations over at our challenge blog soon!

Steampunk Challenge Time - "Altered Playing Cards"

Hello, dear readers, Steampunk lovers and followers old and new!

It is time to start a new challenge over at
 SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges!!!

This month's theme:

Altered Playing Cards

Our Guest Designer for this month, Rosie, from "Rosie's Bastelwelt", suggested this theme and I really loved to try it out.

So here comes my first "altered playing card" - tatttaaaah:

I learned that with altered playing cards you only have to see to it that one corner of the playing card remains visible... everything else is "anything goes".

For my APC I die cut a gear using the Tim Holtz "tiny gears" Sizzix die from corrugated card and glued it to the playing card. After that I applied glue to the whole card (except the one corner) and glued sandwich paper to it, creating a lot of wrinkles during that step.

Once dry I treated the surface with alcohol inks and metallic rub ons to
highlight the gear and the creases thus creating awesome yummy texture...

The black gear image was stamped onto some acetate that was cut to size and sanded around the edges. I fixed it to the playing card with three tiny brads. for a finish I added some tiny gears and cogs  and applied some crackle accents and "walnut stain" DI to the corner with the cards symbol. Done!

I hope you like my first take on altered playing cards and have a lot of fun doing your own! I would love to see your APC Steampunk creations over at our challenge blog soon!!!!

Hop over to SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges to check out the awesome APCs from SanDee and our Guest Designer, Rosie!!! You will find a lot of inspiration over there. Promised!

Our Creative Corner - The Next Generation!

Good morning, dear friends, visitors, followers and those yet to become!

Today I have some really exciting news to tell - the "Our Creative Corner" challenge blog has been undergoing a relaunch with a totally new decor, format, a stunningly fabulous design team (I - humble me -  am part of...yiipeeeeh!) and brand new challenges to come!

And I will be part of this, having been invited to join their new DT! Whoop, whoop - I am so proud of this!

I loved the "Old" Creative Corner very much (as it was one of my very first challenge blogs I stumbled upon as a stamping newbie and I felt at home with their style and challenges immediately) - and I hope I will be able to fill those shoes as a member of the new DT.
I am not allowed to reveal too much information by now, but I can already tell you that the new owner has put a lot of work and - what is even more important - all his love into turning Our Creative Corner into a newly decorated home for followers old AND new!

I hope you will visit me and this wonderful design team I am in soon and I am impatiently looking forward to meet you there - playing a lot of great challenges together!

Hugs,
Claudia - die amelie x
