12 tags of 2013 - June

As today was cold, grey and mostly wet, this was the perfect day to do a first take on Tim's latest of the 12 tags of 2013...

I loved doing the background with the technique he shows! And I definitely love stamping on watercolor paper!

As I do not have any Distress markers, I used  Distress ink and Distress stains puddles from the craft sheet, applying and blending them with a  watery brush.

I left some of the brush strokes visible, as I love how the sharp edges of the colour highlight the white paper background.

The philosophy tag was coloured using Distress paints, which I dabbed onto the tag using my fingers.

The crown for my bird was stamped with black archival ink (as was the eiffel tower image) and coloured the same way. Then I cut it out and gave it some coats with UTEE, before I fixed it to the tag using a sticky foam pad.

As I absolutely love the effect of the torn paper edges that were blended with DI before going in with some water and the brush, I also used this element for the bottom of my tag, thus creating a border that repeats the torn paper edge from the tag's image.

I also added some embellishments: for example the awesome idea-ology custom fasteners and the philosophy tag.

The ribbon was died with DI "vintage photo", crinkled and left to dry.

I then added some torn strips of Tim Holtz idea-ology tissue tape where I felt I needed some more texture and depth.

I especially love the worn look of Tim's june tag and enjoyed playing around with a lot of my favourite colour combos like "vintage photo", "broken china" and "brushed corduroy".

I hope that the images show at least the idea of the intense colours...it was quite hard to take images as it is grey in grey outside and artificial light always shows the colours wrong... but as the weather won't get better for the whole next week, these images will have to do the job.

I hope you enjoyed them and have a lot of fun too creating the june tag!

Thanks for your visit and happy crafting!

  8. Very impressive tag. I love all the elements and detail you added. Dare I say it looked more like a Tim card than Tim's card.
