Rust
is this month's theme over at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk challenges and how I LOVE it!
We have a special guest this time who has specialized in the use of "Real Rust" (aaand who is our generous sponsor for this month too...;) - Daniela Rogall, owner of the creavil store and talented artist. So hop over to our challenge blog to check out what Sandra and Daniela have prepared for your inspiration!
As she used real rust, I decided to use everything that imitates rust: Ranger "rust" embossing powder, Fran-tage "Aged copper" embossing enamel, rust painting technique a la Andy Skinner, alcohol ink "rust" and Distress ink "rusty hinge". :)
Wallaaah!
I created this wall hanging from very thick corrugated card that came from the packaging materials of my new kitchen's furniture and electric devices like the giant fridge for example.
It was cut to size and the edges were blended using washi tape. Then I cut off two pieces of folding rule, treated them with alcohol inks and sanded them down afterwards to achieve a worn look.
I drilled holes into them using the Dremel, to fix the hinges, that were die cut and heat embossed.
Then I die cut the iron fence border twice and gave it an acrylic colour treatment a la Andy Skinner to get a rusted look. I glued tiny half pearls to the card as faux rivets.
The gentleman was stamped onto some acetate that was first treated with alcohol ink
"rust" and sanded at the edges afterwards. I even used the scratching tool to distress the surface.
The image was fixed to the thick card using two large metal pins and some washers. As a background I used one of the lovely papers from the "Industrial French" Tim Holtz paper stash. I LOVE those goggles!!!!
The pediments were die cut and given a treatment with Ranger "rust" embossing powder.
The rulers with the hinges in place were glued to the corrugated card, building a frame, and the iron gate borders were glued to the rulers' backs afterwards.
I fixed some rough cord to the back of my hanging. A chit chat sticker for a last finishing touch.
Done!
I hope you like my rusty wall hanging and I look forward to seeing many awesome entries again! Thank you all so much for joining our challenges so constantly with such outstanding projects!!!! You are just awesome!
Hugs,
die amelie - Claudia x
