A Summer in Velden, 1927

The wonderful "Buttons"-challenge at SSSaS inspired me to do once more a project using some of my ancestors' photographs.

This time I chose a picture, that was taken in summer 1927 at a boardwalk in Velden at the Wörthersee.

Not only
the picture in the center is one of that series, but also the images on the buttons are taken from copies of these photographs. I glued the transparent buttons onto the copy using transparent glue and cut them out after it had dried.

I just love how they all look so happy :)
Shiny happy people having fun in the summer sun.

After poking the buttons' holes from the back and through the paper I glued them on, I fixed them to the card using wire. I left long wire ends with some of the buttons to fix some chit chat stickers later. The tickets were stamped using Tim Holtz stamps and black jet archival ink.

One of the sides of the Kraft core which I used as a background, was dry embossed and sanded afterwards to add some more texture.

I hope you like the image and leave you with some close-ups as usual.
Thank you for stopping by! :)

Bin mir sicher, dass die ganzen Badefrösche damals genau so Spaß hatten wie wir heute.

  8. Claudia...I love your creation! That vintage photograph is priceless! Love all of the people in it and what they were doing at the split second that photograph was snapped. I love your greenish background with the strip of embossing. So pretty. Love all of the clear buttons with the different photos in them. That is such a cool idea and those worked so perfectly into your piece! I love it all! Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy

  9. It's a completely brilliant make, Claudia! The photograph is wonderful, and I adore the touch of using extra close-ups behind the transparent buttons - fabulous! The whole, warm, vintage look just glows with nostalgic, golden, summer memories - a real treasure.

  11. Tolle Idee mit den Fotos hinter den Knöpfen. Wie groß sind die Knöpfe? Müssen schon größer sein damit man was erkennt, oder?
